Project Description

Chrysalis is an edutainment website about the traditionally Eastern philosophy of the chakra system. Chakras refer to the individual circular, spinning energy-wheels that run throughout the subtle (spiritual) body. It is a spiritual nervous system that allows for the upward movement of life-force to heal the body, mind, and soul.

There are seven that run along the spine. They vibrate at different frequencies and have different representations and associations. Chakra alignment practices are about inner growth and development nd personal awakening. People feel empowered in their lives when they feel they have inner balance.

Even though people are aware of the idea of chakras, they don’t really understand their meanings and functions. This design will offer a resource for people to learn about their subtle bodies and how to be more connected to themselves.

People are aware of the idea of chakras, but they might not fully understand the meaning, functions and influences of these energy points.

An interactive website will offer a resource for people to learn more about their chakras and how to be more connected to their “subtle bodies.”

In order to deliver on the intention of this project, the website was designed to mimic the ascending nature of chakras with an inverted vertical scrolling function, and the final page representing Nirvana. Each page also has a 3D horizontal scroll to explore more about each chakra, including its representations, affiliated yoga poses, alignments and more.

Task flows and information architecture demonstrate the seamless flow of the website.

The art of this project consists of continuous line drawings. These drawings signify the flow and fluidity of the chakra system and yoga practices that they represent.

This project was put forward for the Loeries Awards.
